A winery? In Maine? While Maine is more well-known for its beer scene, the state is also home to a growing number of wineries and distilleries. In addition to grapes, Maine wines are frequently made from fruit hardy enough to stand up to our harsh climate, such as apple, blueberry, blackberry and pear. Follow the Maine Wine Trail and you’ll find wineries and distilleries (potato vodka, anyone?) throughout the state that are open to the public for tastings and tours.
